Stoneware with heavy grog, mixed clay body, iron oxide and terra rosa wash
A handleless yunomi cup, wheel-thrown and finished with a specific wash of iron oxide and terra rosa - a natural pigment found on a trip, not bought from a supplier. I don't know if I'll ever land on this exact shade again.
Process
Wheel-thrown, then trimmed by hand - the grog in the clay left small pits in the surface during trimming, kept visible rather than smoothed away. A wash of iron oxide and terra rosa applied over the trimmed form. Glazed almost entirely - only the rounded foot, where the cup meets the table, stays bare. Capacity 200ml. One of a kind - this exact mix and colour may not repeat.
