SI-006 Silt Cup - Cobalt Blue

Stoneware, cobalt blue slip, stainless steel wire

Small wheel-thrown stoneware cup, 150ml. Cobalt blue horizon glaze, hand-tested proportions, wrapped in a band of stainless steel. Use and care: - 150ml - suited for espresso, tea, or anything you want to finish slowly - Interior: clear, food-safe glaze, separate from the cobalt exterior - Fired to 1240°C; hand wash recommended - Stoneware and wire may feel warm with hot contents - normal for handmade stoneware

How I make it: - Cobalt oxide, mixed with clay and water in a ratio I've tested by hand - same approach as my iron oxide pieces, different oxide - I apply it with my fingers, on the exterior only, below the rim - it never touches the inside or the drinking edge - The wire groove is carved during trimming, planned in from the start - Wire is hand-fitted into that groove after firing
