Ritual Use Bowl

Stoneware, four glazes mixed with iron oxide

A bowl shaped for ritual, not just use. Four glazes mixed by hand with iron oxide in small proportion - the interior shifts between warm earth, celadon green and silver-white depending on the light and the angle. No two look the same. The exterior carries the marks of the wheel and the kiln's temperature. Hold it in both hands. That is how it was made to be used. One of a kind. Made in Berlin.

Process

Wheel-thrown stoneware. Four commercial glazes mixed by hand with a small proportion of iron oxide - the combination reacts unpredictably during firing, creating the layered earth and green tones visible in the interior. Fired in an electric kiln. The exterior glaze is applied more sparingly, letting the clay body show through.
